Problem

In Denmark, many children do not get the stimulation they need to explore and develop their own cultural knowledge because they do not yet understand the importance of it and they lack the companionship and closeness with adults to achieve this. As a result, children have a harder time developing abilities that require empathy, open-mindedness, and interpretation.

Solution

Filiorum created Dramatic Art on the School Timetable, which is an innovative learning concept that integrates professional theatrical performances with courses of study tailor-made for the pupils and the individual schools. Filiorum helps the pupils gain more than just an experience; they gain tools with which they can process what they have experienced. The constant expectations and pressures of the competitive society demand that children have the ability and the courage to place themselves in the spotlight. When the pupils encounter the dramatic arts, they are left with a sense of curiosity about their own potential and how they could make their story accessible to others. That is why Filiorum aims to make Dramatic Art on the School Timetable a permanent part of the Danish school curriculum. It would be directly integrated into the annual planning of the classes, meet the intermediate goals, and present the pupils to the surrounding community as it was intended in the new Danish School Reform.
