CLIMBING ACADEMY
Mariana established the Academy of Climbing to offer activity-based opportunities for children and to stimulate the development of their self-confidence along with physical health.
Today in Estonia, children with disabilities have limited access to physical activities, making them less active compared to their peers. This leads to declining physical abilities in disabled children, which further complicates their daily life. As a result, they lose their sense of belonging and become less independent.
Mariana Mutso´s solution involves two components. The first component is offering regular sessions of rock climbing, incorporating informal life skills training. The second component is engaging children without disabilities to partner with blind and partially blind children in rock climbing training sessions, youth camps, and workshops. The goal is to help all children feel independent, find social inclusion, and realize their potential.
